The shores of Lake Como are home to a number of towns and cities, from historic Verana to the majestic villas of Bellagio and the colourful fishing village of Varenna, there is so much to explore along the spectacular shores of this beautiful part of Italy. The city of Como is a cultural centre, with art galleries, museums and churches to discover. In contrast, Varenna, on the east shore halfway up Lake Como, is a riot of delightfully coloured traditional buildings and cobbled streets – other than the pavement outside the Church of San Giogio which is solid marble!

In the north of Lake Como you’ll find the peaceful town of Damoso, where the reliable breeze has made it the place to be seen for windsurfers and dinghy sailors, as well as for water skiers and fans of other such outdoor pursuits. Here in Damaso, unlike the other areas of the lake, this is not so much a shopping destination but more a place for sports enthusiasts. This old-world town also offers quaint narrow alleyways which plunge directly down to the blue waters of the lake.
