CIN - National Identification Code for Italian Properties

Italy's Ministry of Tourism has introduced a new regulation to ensure transparency and fairness in the short-term rental market. Under Decreto Anticipi No. 145/2023, all non-hotel accommodation providers—including holiday rental hosts—are required to obtain a National Identification Code, commonly known as CIN.

What is CIN?

CIN stands for Codice Identificativo Nazionale (National Identification Code). It's a unique registration number assigned to each tourist accommodation property in Italy. This code helps the government maintain an official registry of all short-term rental properties and ensures the rental market operates transparently and competitively.

Key Timeline and Deadlines

  • November 2, 2024: The regulation came into effect
  • January 1, 2025: All rental properties should have obtained their CIN

How to Get Your CIN

To obtain your CIN, you need to apply through the Ministry of Tourism's official online platform called Banca Dati Strutture Ricettive (BDSR). Once approved, you'll receive your unique identification code.

Next steps after receiving your CIN:

  • Display the code outside your property
  • Include it in all your rental listings across all platforms
  • Keep documentation readily available for inspections

Safety Requirements

Along with registering your CIN, Italy's regulations require all tourist rentals to meet specific safety standards:

  • Combustible gas detectors installed and functional
  • Carbon monoxide detectors installed and functional
  • Fire extinguishers accessible on premises
  • Professional rentals must meet additional installation safety requirements

Display Your CIN Proudly

To help you showcase your compliance and build guest trust, Holidu offers an official CIN premium badge. You can order your badge to highlight your registration status on your listing through this link.

Displaying your CIN demonstrates professionalism and commitment to regulatory compliance, which can give your property a competitive advantage in the Italian rental market.
