What are the Host Responsibilities?

As a host, you play a key role in giving your guests a great stay. You are not just hosting a property; you are providing an experience. Understanding and fulfilling your responsibilities ensures smooth operations, positive guest experiences, and long-term success on the Holidu platform. Here is how you can make the most of hosting with Holidu.

Booking Guidelines

Your Role and Responsibilities

The booking contract is between you and the guest, with Holidu serving as an intermediary. You, or a designated person, should be reachable during your guests' stay—either directly or through someone in charge. Being accessible demonstrates professionalism and helps ensure guest satisfaction.

Smooth Arrival Communication

For a more personal experience, get in touch with your guests early about arrival expectations. Communicate details such as estimated arrival time, how to collect keys, and house rules. This proactive approach sets clear expectations and reduces misunderstandings.

Be There for Your Guests

Be ready to help during your guests' stay. If issues come up at the property, respond quickly so their stay stays stress-free. Prompt communication and problem-solving are essential to maintaining positive reviews and guest loyalty.

Avoid Host Cancellations

Cancellations disrupt plans for both hosts and guests. They can also impact your property's performance and lead to penalties. Aim to avoid cancellations whenever possible by managing your calendar carefully and being realistic about your availability.

Providing Receipts

If a guest requests a receipt or invoice showing the total amount paid, you are responsible for providing one. You can use Holidu's tool to issue it: How to issue an invoice for a guest.

Please note: Holidu only provides guests with a booking confirmation. Your invoice (provided by Holidu) is an individual fiscal document and should NOT be shared with guests through Holidu's system—it is your responsibility to deliver it directly.

Account Configuration Guidelines

Your Control and Responsibility

Final responsibility for the accuracy of your configuration belongs to you, the host. Our local teams are happy to guide and assist you, but please bear in mind that Holidu is not responsible for keeping your property's information and settings up to date. Regular maintenance of your account ensures accuracy and protects your reputation.

Updating Account Settings

Everything that is configurable in your account can be updated by you, easily and quickly. Take advantage of this control to keep your listing current and competitive.

Calendar Management

To prevent double bookings, keep your calendar accurate and up to date. As the host, you set your availability. If your property becomes unavailable—for example, due to renovations, maintenance, or private bookings—please block those dates right away. A current calendar makes for a smooth experience for you and your guests.

Modifying Property Details

If you change amenities, sleeping arrangements, or other configurable settings, please update the description text promptly. More information is available in our guide on How to generate your property description.

Please note: whenever critical information changes (for example, pool or Wi-Fi no longer available, bedroom configuration, etc.), it is your responsibility to inform future guests with affected bookings. Holidu only steps in for very urgent cases, such as when the check-in date is extremely close.

Keeping Rates Updated

Update your nightly rate, minimum stay, and extra fees in good time for upcoming seasons. Guests like to plan their holidays in advance, so seasonal rate updates demonstrate professionalism and can improve your booking rate.

Important: Once a booking is confirmed, the booking price can no longer be changed.
