Online Check-in - Statistical Reporting in Italy – A Simple Guide for Hosts

Important Notice (Updated October 2025)

Statistical reporting requirements in Italy remain mandatory for all accommodation providers. This guide provides updated information to help you understand and comply with your reporting obligations. If you have questions specific to your property or region, please contact your local municipality or tourism office for the most current guidance.

What is Statistical Reporting?

In Italy, all accommodation providers are legally required to submit monthly statistical reports to the authorities. These reports help track tourism trends at both national and local levels, allowing governments and local administrations to plan tourism more effectively.

Even if your property was closed or had no guests during the month, you are still required to submit the report.

For more detailed information about ISTAT reporting guidelines, you can refer to the official ISTAT documentation.

What Information is Required?

Each month, hosts must report the following details about their accommodation property:

  • Property name – The official name of your accommodation
  • Property type – For example, hotel, B&B, holiday home, apartment, or other accommodation category
  • Days open or closed – A property is considered open if it was available for at least one day in the month. It is considered closed only if it remained closed for the entire month.
  • Total available rooms for that month – The number of rooms you offered for booking
  • Total available beds for that month – The total bed capacity across all rooms
  • Total number of guests checked in during that month – The count of all guests who stayed at your property
  • Guest nationalities – The country of origin for each guest. If guests are Italian, the province where they reside must also be reported.
  • Total number of occupied nights – The sum of all nights booked across all guests

How Do Hosts Get Credentials?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where hosts must register to obtain their credentials. The registration process may vary depending on the local authority, but generally, hosts will need to follow these steps:

  1. Identify the correct regional portal based on the property's location.
  2. Register as an accommodation provider on the portal.
  3. Receive login credentials (username and password).
  4. Use these credentials to submit monthly statistical reports.

If you are unsure where to register, check with your local municipality or tourism office for guidance. They can direct you to the correct provincial portal for your area.

How to Submit the Report?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where accommodation providers must submit their data. To make this process easier, Holidu offers an automatic statistical reporting feature as part of its regulatory support for the Italian market.

How to Enable Automatic Reporting

Once connected to Holidu's statistics reporting system, the required data is sent automatically on your behalf, so you can spend less time on manual submissions and focus on managing your property and guests.

To enable automatic reporting, you will need to connect your stats account in Holidu, and the integration takes care of the recurring submissions.

Automatic Reporting for Empty Periods

The Holidu ISTAT integration also reports to ISTAT when there are no guests during a given month, supporting compliance with the reporting requirements even when your property is unoccupied. This ensures you remain compliant with Italian regulations at all times.

How to Connect Your Property to Statistics Reporting

Follow these simple steps to connect your property to the Statistics Reporting system and enable automatic submissions:

  1. Log in to your Holidu host account.
  2. Navigate to the Statistics Connection section in your account settings.
  3. Set up the integration with your stats account to automate guest reporting.
  4. Review all the information and ensure it is accurate.
  5. Click on Validate to confirm the connection.
  6. Click Save changes to finalize the setup.

Once these steps are complete, your property will be connected to the Statistical Reporting system, and your monthly reports will be submitted automatically.
