What is Holidu Protect?
Holidu Protect (powered by Truvi) is an optional damage protection service that replaces traditional security deposits. For €3 per booked night, your property is protected against guest damages up to €50,000.
Instead of asking guests for deposits, Holidu Protect provides automatic coverage in case of accidental, intentional, or criminal damages during a stay.

How does the guest screening process work?
When Holidu Protect is active, guests are automatically screened for potential risks after a confirmed booking. This screening determines the level of coverage for each reservation.
Screening outcomes:
- Approved: Full €50,000 coverage (granted in 99.5% of all cases)
- Flagged: Limited coverage up to €1,000 (approximately 1 out of 300 bookings)
- Rejected: Booking is canceled automatically without penalties or fees for you
You can see the screening status for each guest in your booking details. Rejected bookings may take a day or two to process.
What happens when you activate Holidu Protect?
Activating Holidu Protect automatically disables security deposits for that property and enables guest screening on all future bookings.
Impact on your property:
- Security deposits are automatically disabled
- Guests no longer see deposit requirements, which can increase your booking rates
- Each guest undergoes automatic risk screening after booking confirmation
- Coverage applies only to bookings confirmed after activation
What is covered by Holidu Protect?
Covered damages:
- Stained linens and towels
- Unintentional guest damage
- Unauthorized pet damage
- Unsolicited and unauthorized smoking damage
- Unapproved party damage
- Accidental, intentional, criminal damage, or theft caused by approved guests
- Delivery expenses for replaced items
- Extra cleaning costs
- Damage to items included in the rental (e.g., bikes)
- Furniture damage
Not covered:
- Wear and tear
- Maintenance expenses
- Liability or damage done by the host
- Loss of income
- Acts of nature
- Cosmetic damages that don't affect usability or rentability (decided case by case)
- Management fees
Important coverage details
Holidu Protect only applies to Holidu bookings. Coverage starts only for bookings confirmed after you activate the service. Bookings made before activation are not retroactively covered.

- There is no minimum claim value—you can submit claims from €0.01 to €50,000

How will I know if a guest is flagged or rejected?
You will see the screening status in your booking details and receive a notification if a booking is rejected.
What should I do if a guest is flagged or rejected?
Flagged guests: No action is needed. You remain protected for up to €1,000. Flagging typically occurs when email or phone verification cannot be completed.
Rejected guests: The booking is canceled automatically. You are not charged a cancellation fee, and this cancellation does not affect your ranking or Star Host status.
Does guest rejection affect my Star Host status?
No. Holidu does not charge cancellation fees for rejections due to unfavorable screening results. These cancellations do not negatively influence your ranking or Star Host status.
Are guests involved in the claims process?
No. Truvi handles all claims professionally without involving the guest. This helps you avoid disputes and negative reviews.
Is Holidu Protect available for all properties?
Yes. Holidu Protect is available for all property types.
What happens if I deactivate Holidu Protect?
Existing bookings made while Holidu Protect was active remain covered. New bookings after deactivation will not be protected.
