What Happens If a Guest Cancels Their Booking?
When a guest cancels their booking, your payout and the guest's refund are determined by the cancellation policy attached to that specific booking. Holidu handles all refund processing automatically—you don't need to issue a refund yourself.
How Are Cancellations Handled?
The Guest Cancels Through the Booking Channel
Guests must cancel directly through the platform where they made their reservation (Holidu, Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, or other channels). The system automatically applies the cancellation policy tied to that booking.
The Cancellation Policy Determines Your Payout
Each booking has a specific cancellation policy that dictates:
- Whether the guest receives a full, partial, or no refund
- When the cancellation occurs relative to the booking dates
- How much you receive as the host
Your payout is processed according to the policy set for your property at the time of booking.
You'll Be Notified Immediately
Once a guest cancels, you'll receive an email notification. You can log into your Holidu host account and check the Bookings section to review cancellation details and any payout updates.
Where to Find the Cancellation Policy for a Booking
To review the cancellation policy applied to any booking:
- Log in to your Holidu host account
- Go to the Bookings section
- Select the specific booking
- Scroll down to view the Cancellation Policy details
Key Points to Remember
- Your Policy Controls Payouts: The refund amount and your payout depend entirely on the cancellation policy chosen for that booking
- Calendar Updates Automatically: Once a cancellation is confirmed, the dates become available for new bookings immediately
- No Manual Refunds Required: Holidu processes all refunds automatically based on the policy
