PLACE AND SURROUNDINGS
Bardolino is located on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, and the small town of Bardolino is famous for its light, sparkling red wine. The grapes grow in the hilly hinterland of the former fishing village. The openly built old town with its wide alleys, numerous shops, and the long lakeside promenade invites guests to stroll. It is lively here until the late evening hours: many shops are open until late, and beautiful restaurants, bars, and discos attract night owls from all over the region. Every Thursday, a typical weekly market takes place in Bardolino, which is particularly known for its cheese specialties, but it is an shopping experience not only for cheese lovers – bargain hunters have always gotten their money's worth here. An excursion to the Zeni Wine Museum above Bardolino is not only worthwhile for wine lovers. Several churches await culture enthusiasts in Bardolino. For example, the Church of San Severo. The slightly asymmetrical Romanesque church from the 11th century with frescoes and an archaic-looking crypt from the 8th century is one of the best-preserved Romanesque buildings in the Verona region. Every year in autumn, the famous and traditional wine festival takes place in Bardolino. Winegrowers from Bardolino, Garda, Lazise, and the surrounding area personally serve their noble drops at the wine festival and will certainly share some interesting stories from their wine cellars. Bardolino also offers good opportunities to explore the nearby and distant surroundings. In just half an hour, you can take a city trip to Verona with its Roman past, the famous balcony of Romeo and Juliet, and of course the world-famous Arena with open-air performances. To the west lie the cities of Brescia, Bergamo, and Milan, which invite you to an extensive shopping tour. Even the picturesque Venice is still easily accessible from Bardolino. A trip around Lake Garda is also always an experience. Lake Garda offers an exceptionally wide range of leisure parks, zoos, climbing parks, and swimming pools. In Castelnuovo del Garda, you will find Gardaland, one of Italy's largest amusement parks. Families will get their money's worth here, as with over 40 attractions, from the rapids ride to the fairy-tale themed world, there is something for everyone, young and old. Right next door, the Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium awaits to bring visitors closer to the underwater world. In Movieland in Lazise, breathtaking stunt shows await visitors. Special effects provide the necessary action. Parco Natura Viva in Bussolengo (just a few minutes' drive from the southeastern shore of the lake) is a zoo dedicated to the protection of endangered species and counts numerous endangered species such as tigers, leopards, and the red panda among its inhabitants. On a walking path, visitors can go on safari and get closer to animals such as rhinoceroses, hippos, and monkeys, separated only by natural barriers.
